Egor Kuroptev (Russian: Его́р Куро́птев, Georgian: ეგორ კუროპტევი) is a Russian and Georgian political activist and media manager.

Kuroptev currently holds the position of the director of the "Free Russia Foundation" in South Caucasus.[4] Manager of project of fake accounts on social networks "Elf Farm"( ботоферма "Фабрика Эльфов").[5][6][7] He also produces media project "Пограничная ZONA" ("Border Zone").[8] From September, 2019 Kuroptev represents distribution of the German Public broadcaster "Deutsche Welle"[9] in South Caucasus.

Career

Kuroptev started his career in the age of 17 as a head of administration dept[10] at Echo of Moscow[11] news radio in Moscow.

He produced several media projects such as the Runway Project (Russia),[12] Cosmopolitan.Videoversion (Russia),[13] Main topic TV show[14] (Georgia), etc

In 2012, Kuroptev was invited to Georgia to launch a new political talk-show "Main topic" hosted by one of the famous leaders of the Russian opposition Ksenia Sobchak for the state TV company PIK TV[15]. In 2013, he produced several charity classical[16] and pop-concerts[17] in Georgia and Azerbaijan.

In the beginning of 2015, Kuroptev launched and became the General Producer the new media project "Star Media Group", that unites several web and broadcasting media sources covering the EU association agreement, the cooperation between Georgia and NATO and local Georgian politics. [18] This media company produced discussions in talk-shows about the current situation regarding conflicts between Russia and Georgia and between Russia and Ukraine.

From 2017, Kuroptev produced and hosted his own TV show "Пограничная ZONA" (Border Zone)[19] in Russian language. The presidents of Georgia and Armenia, a deputy secretary of the United States, ministers of countries of the EU as well as NATO leaders take part in the project on regular basis. The project's goal is to counter propaganda and promote unbiased information and opinions on the post Soviet space.[20]

Personal life

Kuroptev was married to Ekaterina Kortikadze[21]. As of November 2022, he was married to Ark project activist Anastasia Burakova[22].

Political activism

Egor Kuroptev writes a blog[23] on the Russian news web-site echo.msk.ru covering the conflict between Russia and Georgia as well as promoting pro-democratic development in the post Soviet countries.[24] Kuroptev is engaged in activities targeted to counter Kremlin's[25] negative influence[26] in Georgia and other countries in the region. In his materials he writes about the deoccupation of Georgia.[27] In interviews he underlines that Russian citizens must know more about the facts of the conflict,[28] of the War in August 2008 and the current situation in this regard.[29]

Kuroptev is the author of various articles[27] and reports.[30] As a political expert,[31] he takes part in all major regional security and democracy-building conferences.

Since 2018 has been working in the "Free Russia Foundation".[32]

Since 2022 as a member of the Free Russia Foundation Kuroptev has been managing the project "Elf Farm", a network of hired commentators for a fee spread "anti-Kremlin propaganda" from fake accounts on social networks.[33][34][35]
