Garcia vs. Resendiz
editGarcia faced his toughest fight to date against Mexican Jose Armando Resendiz who was coming off a 10th round stoppage victory over former light middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd. The fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo. In what turned out to be an all action fight, Garcia dropped Resendiz in the eight and soon after got the stoppage from a flurry.[4]
Garcia vs. Davis
editOn the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin, Garcia suffered a shock split decision loss to gatekeeper Kyrone Davis. Garcia was massively overweight at weigh-in. Garcia announced afterwards he is moving up to super middleweight.[citation needed]
