Early life and education

edit

Lubov Fomenko was born on August 12, 1990, in Odesa.

She developed an early interest in music, and her parents supported her by buying her a piano. Lubov taught herself to play by ear and later graduated from music school in solfeggio. She also started professional ballroom dancing at a young age. These endeavors laid the foundation for her vocal techniques and performance style.

2021-2022: Early singles and debut EP

edit

ETOLUBOV began her musical career in 2021 with her debut single, "Загадала," released on January 29, accompanied by a lyric video. Less than two months later, she released her next single, "Ты такой," with an official video directed by Alan Badoev.[1]

On July 2, 2021, ETOLUBOV released the song and music video "Пионы".[2] Six weeks after the previous premiere, she presented another track, "Обману тебя."

In September 2021, the single "Притяжение" premiered, marking a significant milestone in ETOLUBOV's career. The song became an international phenomenon, gathering over 2 billion views on TikTok and entering the global Shazam chart at number 33. Even years after its release, "Притяжение" has continued to gain new fans, going viral in several Asian, Arabic, and Latin countries and entering the radio rotation in Turkey, ranking 183rd in the overall chart for international artists. The mood video for "Притяжение" was filmed in the desert near Kherson and at a chalk quarry near Mykolaiv.[3]

After the success of "Притяжение," ETOLUBOV was offered a contract by Warner Music Group, one of the world's most prominent major labels. On November 12, 2021, she released her sixth single, "Манго," with a video directed by Alan Badoev and filmed in the Seychelles.[4] "Манго" remained in Ukraine's Top-20 radio chart for over six months and was featured on Spotify's EQUAL Global playlist.

On December 9, 2022, ETOLUBOV released her debut EP, "Pryrechena na Lubov," containing four tracks: "kviten," "rymuu,"[5] "yaka," and "pryrechena."[6]

2023-present: Debut album and international success

edit

On October 27, 2023, ETOLUBOV released her first English single, "Thisislove,"[7] the first single from her upcoming album "VSELUBOV." The song was released simultaneously with a mood video.

On November 3, she released the second single from the album VSELUBOV. The momentum from her previous songs didn't diminish, and ETOLUBOV presented a new track titled "Куба," which has all the elements to repeat her earlier successes.

In anticipation of the release of her debut album and in response to numerous listener requests, the artist released an English EP, "Attraction,"[8] on November 10, 2023. The EP includes the song's original version, a remix, and the "001SHOW" version, recorded in Bali.

The debut album VSELUBOV was released on February 9, 2024.[9] ETOLUBOV carefully and meticulously introduced listeners to her universe skillfully created over the three years since her debut single "Загадала" in 2021. Some elements of this universe have been seen before: the successful single "Притяжение" (which reached 33rd place on the global Shazam chart) and the exotic single "Манго" (both songs are presented in new versions on the album). VSELUBOV shifted ETOLUBOV’s reputation from that of a YouTube or TikTok phenomenon (where she already has over 3 billion views) to the one of an artist whose songs merge into a single cohesive canvas.

On VSELUBOV, the singer has expanded her creative horizons, experimenting with new forms, ideas, sounds, and meanings while remaining within the philosophy of her project. The album features songs in three languages and references various musical cultures, including Eastern, Latin, and even Cuban elements, as showcased in the fiery "Куба."

001SHOW, filmed in Bali in early 2023, is ETOLUBOV’s live visual show based on and accompanying her debut album. The key idea of 001SHOW is the combination of seemingly incompatible elements reflected in the music and visuals. Modern futuristic decorations blend with the stunning beauty of nature, with a circular stage set in a tropical forest. It gleams with a metallic sheen by day, contrasting with ETOLUBOV and her ballet outfits against the lush greenery. By night, the stage creates a magical effect, with artistic lighting among the trees reminiscent of Japanese kabuki shadow theater, adding movement and depth to the scene.[10]

001SHOW premiered internationally on the same day as VSELUBOV as a token of appreciation to fans who have awaited the album since the mega-hit "Притяжение." This showcase emphasizes ETOLUBOV's ambitions, as the format of a full video album is a hallmark of global stars, from Kanye West's Runaway to Beyoncé's epochal Lemonade.

On Jun 11, 2024 ETOLUBOV released a long-anticipated Arabic remix of "Attraction," featuring the famous Egyptian singer Ramy Sabry.[11]
