Expedition 75 mission insignia

Expedition 75 is the 75th long-duration expedition to the International Space Station (ISS). The expedition began with the departure of Soyuz MS-28 on 26 July 2026 with NASA astronaut Jessica Meir taking over the ISS command and is expected to conclude with the undocking of Soyuz MS-29 on 1 April 2027. It continues the extensive scientific research conducted aboard the ISS, focusing on various fields, including biology, human physiology, physics, and materials science. The crew members also maintain and upgrade the space station systems.

Background, Crew, and Events

[edit]

The expedition commenced with a crew consisting of NASA astronauts Jessica Meir, Jack Hathaway, and Anil Menon, ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Andrey Fedyaev, Pyotr Dubrov, and Anna Kikina.[1][2]

The expedition has seen two spacewalks so far. On 6 August 2026, Meir and Menon conducted a 6-hour, 27-minute spacewalk to modify the station's 3B power channel in preparation for the installation of a seventh iROSA.[3] On 18 August, Menon and Adenot conducted a 6-hour, 23-minute spacewalk to remove an antenna used to transmit data between the station and Mission Control in Houston.[4] The third spacewalk set for 25 August is scheduled to install an onboard spare space-to-ground antenna, and if time allows, replace a retroreflector on the forward docking port of the Harmony module used to improve navigation data for visiting spacecraft.[5] The fourth spacewalk set for 1 September is scheduled to connect power channel cables and data relay systems as part of ongoing maintenance and deorbit preparations.[6]
