Fazal Ahmad Khan (1910–2009)[1] was a Pakistani archaeologist and Director General of the Department of Archaeology & Museums (DOAM)[2][3] from 1958 to 1970.[4] He was the student of Mortimer Wheeler.[5][6]

Excavations and Discoveries

  • Mohenjo-Daro (1950–1954): Khan led the excavations at this Indus Valley Civilization site, uncovering significant artifacts and structures.[7]
  • Harappa (1946–1948): He conducted excavations at this ancient city, shedding light on the Indus Valley Civilization's urban planning and architecture.
  • Taxila (1946–1955): Khan's excavations at Taxila revealed the city's rich history, including Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim periods.
  • Kot Diji (1955–1957): He excavated this fortified city, dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization.[8][9]
