Sumry is a member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and previously served as Chairman of UVCCM in Mpanda District, the youth wing of the ruling party, where he became known for mobilizing young people and strengthening grassroots political participation throughout the district. Before becoming a Member of Parliament, he served as Mayor of Mpanda Municipal Council and as Ward Councillor for Makanyagio Ward, gaining recognition for his involvement in local governance, infrastructure development, and community welfare initiatives. Alongside his political career, Sumry is a businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder and owner of Haidary Sumry Traders, a logistics and trading company involved in transportation and commercial services. Through his business activities, he has contributed to employment creation and economic development within Mpanda and neighboring regions. During his public service career, Sumry has been associated with several development initiatives across Katavi Region. Projects linked to his leadership and support include contributions toward the improvement of Katavi Referral Hospital, the renovation of Katavi Primary School and Kashato Primary School, as well as support for different road construction and rehabilitation projects intended to improve transportation and accessibility within Mpanda Urban and surrounding communities. Sumry ni mwanachama wa Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) na aliwahi kuwa Mwenyekiti wa UVCCM Wilaya ya Mpanda, tawi la vijana la chama hicho, ambapo alijulikana kwa kuhamasisha ushiriki wa vijana katika siasa na shughuli za maendeleo ya jamii ndani ya Mkoa wa Katavi. Kabla ya kuwa Mbunge, aliwahi kuwa Meya wa Halmashauri ya Manispaa ya Mpanda pamoja na Diwani wa Kata ya Makanyagio, nafasi ambazo zilimjengea sifa katika uongozi wa serikali za mitaa na maendeleo ya jamii. Mbali na shughuli zake za kisiasa, Sumry ni mfanyabiashara na mjasiriamali. Yeye ni mwanzilishi na mmiliki wa kampuni ya Haidary Sumry Traders, kampuni inayojihusisha na biashara na huduma za usafirishaji na lojistiki. Kupitia shughuli zake za biashara, amechangia katika utoaji wa ajira na kukuza uchumi wa Mpanda na maeneo jirani. Akiwa Mbunge wa Mpanda Mjini, Sumry ameweka msisitizo mkubwa katika utekelezaji wa Mradi wa Maji wa Miji 8 chini ya Wizara ya Maji, mradi unaolenga kuboresha huduma ya upatikanaji wa maji safi na salama katika Mpanda pamoja na maeneo mengine yanayokua kwa kasi. Mradi huo umetajwa kuwa sehemu ya juhudi za kuimarisha maendeleo ya miundombinu, afya ya jamii, na ustawi wa wananchi wa Mkoa wa Katavi. Uongozi wake umeelezwa kuwa wa karibu na wananchi, ukijikita katika maendeleo ya vijana, elimu, afya, miundombinu, na ukuaji wa uchumi wa ndani. Haidary Sumry ni Muislamu na anatokea katika kabila la Wabende. Ameoa na ni baba wa watoto watatu. Sumry est membre de Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) et a auparavant occupé le poste de président de l’UVCCM du district de Mpanda, l’aile jeunesse du parti au pouvoir. Il s’est fait connaître pour sa mobilisation des jeunes et son engagement dans le renforcement de la participation politique et du développement communautaire dans la région de Katavi. Avant de devenir député, il a été maire du Conseil municipal de Mpanda ainsi que conseiller du quartier de Makanyagio, fonctions grâce auxquelles il a acquis une réputation dans la gouvernance locale et le développement des infrastructures communautaires. En parallèle de sa carrière politique, Sumry est également entrepreneur. Il est le fondateur et propriétaire de Haidary Sumry Traders, une société spécialisée dans la logistique, le transport et les services commerciaux. À travers ses activités commerciales, il a contribué à la création d’emplois et au développement économique de Mpanda et des régions voisines. Au cours de sa carrière dans le service public, Sumry a été associé à plusieurs projets de développement dans la région de Katavi. Parmi les initiatives liées à son leadership figurent l’amélioration du Hôpital de Référence de Katavi, la rénovation de l’école primaire Katavi et de l’école primaire Kashato, ainsi que plusieurs projets de construction et de réhabilitation routière destinés à améliorer les infrastructures et l’accessibilité dans Mpanda Urbain et les environs.
