Title
English: Hay-Cocks by Moonlight
Svenska: Månsken över hövolmar
Object type painting
object_type QS:P31,Q3305213
Description
English: In the mid-1880s, Julia Beck joined the Opponent Movement, a group of artists who rebelled against the Royal Academy’s antiquated teaching methods. It was in the midst of this eventful period that Beck made this painting, signed July 1885. The scene is probably Swedish, but the atmospheric nature of the work reveals strong influences from the latest trends in French art.
