Description |
Sculpture, Penelope Awaiting Her Chamberlain, (1946 Chevrolet truck and welded salvaged objects, 138” x 300" x 104”, 2013) by artist John Himmelfarb. Illustrates a key late period and series (“Trucks” works) and a new type of work—sculpture—in John Himmelfarb’s career when he created three-dimensional works of all types, including, specifically, monumental, assemblages using the truck form. These new works were exhibited and reviewed extensively and part of a significant traveling exhibit of his work. |

Purpose of use |
The image serves an informational and educational purpose as the primary means of illustrating a key late period and series (“Trucks” works) and specific practice: assemblage works using actual trucks. Because the article is about an artist and his work, the omission of the image would significantly limit a reader's understanding and ability to visualize a large, new and well-known body of work and key phase in his art career. Himmelfarb’s work of this type and this particular work are discussed extensively in the article and have been discussed in detail by several art critics cited in the article. |
Replaceable? |
There is no free equivalent of this or any other of this series by Himmelfarb, so the image cannot be replaced by a free image. |
Other information |
The image will not affect the value of the original work or limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to distribute the original due to its low resolution and the general workings of the art market, which values the actual work of art. Because of the low resolution, illegal copies could not be made. |
