DescriptionLake metabolism for mixing vs stratified.tif
English: Conceptual figure of the effects of mixing and stratification dynamics on gross primary production (GPP) in two different situations: one with light-limited primary production (PP) and other with nutrient-limited PP. During the mixing period, nutrient availability is increased, while light availability is decreased. During the stratified period, light availability is increased and nutrient availability is decreased. The scales at the bottom of the figure represent the balance between nutrient and light availability during the mixing and stratified period. ER = ecosystem respiration; NEP = net ecosystem productivity.
