DescriptionTomb of John Bayne of Pitcarlie, Greyfriars Kirkyard Edinburgh.jpg
English: The cloaked figure of a 17th-century laird, John Bayne of Pitcarlie (or Pitcairlie), is probably not one you would wish to encounter suddenly on a moonlit night in the graveyard of Greyfriars. Bayne was a Writer to the Signet [an Edinburgh lawyer] in the middle of the 17th century. He acquired the lands and Lordship of Lindores, including the house and estate of Pitcairlie in Newburgh parish, Fife in 1667.
