editFlorida was created on 19 September 1911 by Ley 11.[2]

editFlorida has an area of 82.76 km²[3] and an elevation of 160 metres.[1]

Economy
editIt shares with Siquirres District the biggest hydroelectrical dam of Central America,[7] the Proyecto Hidroeléctrico Reventazón, built over the Reventazón River by the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad. Impressive views of the dam are a main tourist attraction in the district.
