Freaky Ice grew out of the nightlife scene in Amsterdam, where rave promoter Hank Sweep realized his revelers needed a better way to cool down at these massive and often outdoor parties. Seeing that “real” dancing while holding a drink with ice was not ideal, he thought…why not give the crowds something delicious to stay cool and hydrated with “ice.” Viola – Freaky Ice was born! He started mixing and filling the original formulas in his basement with family and friends. The demand was so immediate that he couldn’t keep up with his small group of fillers working in shifts, and soon the operation went national and spread throughout Europe’s nightlife scenes. (Of course, there were many beverage, trademark and patent attorneys involved along the way, but that’s not fun to read about.)
Chairman & CEO, Marcos Valentino Martinez, was the original founding member who negotiated the acquisition of the Dutch company and all its intellectual property, processes, pending patents, goodwill, and trademarks.
This has enabled continuity in the creative development and working relationships with all vendors in both the U.S. and The Netherlands. The learning curve of each step have taken years to perfect and are all benefits that have been brought to the new ownership structure.
Freaky Ice is trademarked and wholly owned by founder Marcos Valentino Martinez and licensed in perpetuity to Freaky Ice, Inc., a Florida company established for the manufacturing, promotion, and distribution of Freaky Ice.
About Us
editUnlike many products that have come to market since Freaky Ice was developed and began selling 25 years ago in The Netherlands and throughout Europe, it is not a mush blend like a margarita that is promoted as frozen but is not in a solid state. Freaky Ice juice creates a tube like push up “popsicle” inside the sachet and can be transported and stored at room temperature, then frozen in any standard freezer before consumption.
The product itself has evolved over the years and our chemists have created both malt based and spirit-based formulas to fit into retail chains with varying regulations.
