Géza M. Tóth (born 16 June 1970) is a Hungarian filmmaker, producer and animator.[1]

Tóth grew up in Veszprém, as the son of two doctors. His mother was a pediatrician, and his father was a university professor.[2] Tóth began working as a film director in 1992. In 1994, he began to teach filmmaking at universities including Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Royal College of Art in London, Babeș–Bolyai University and University of Theater and Film Arts in Budapest, where he was the rector from 2014-2019.[citation needed]

In 2002 Tóth founded KEDD Stúdió [hu], an animation film studio that produces short films, television commercials, music videos and experimental works.[3] Tóth uses various animation techniques in his work, including traditional animation, 3D animation, and stop motion animation.[4]

In 2005, Tóth wrote, produced and directed Maestro, a computer animated short film. The film was critically acclaimed.[5] In 2007 it was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 79th Academy Awards.[6] In 2010, KEDD studios began producing the Berry and Dolly series for children.

Outside of animation, Tóth also works in live action film. In 2014 he produced, filmed and directed the short film YES for the European film festival circuit.[7]

He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
