Gene Tsudik is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from USC in 1991. His PhD advisor was Deborah Estrin.

He was a researcher at IBM Zurich Research Laboratory (1991–1996) and the Information Sciences Institute (1996–2000). Tsudik is a Fulbright scholar, Fulbright specialist (thrice), a fellow of ACM, IEEE, AAAS and IFIP, and a foreign member of Academia Europaea. From 2009 to 2015 he served as Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Information and Systems Security (TISSEC), which was renamed in 2016 to ACM Transactions on Privacy and Security (TOPS). He received the 2017 ACM SIGSAC Outstanding Contribution Award, the 2020 IFIP Jean-Claude Laprie Award, and the 2023 ACM SIGSAC Outstanding Innovation Award. He is the recipient of a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship (the only one in Computer Science).
