Halle Elizabeth Mackiewicz (born September 24, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She played college soccer for the Clemson Tigers, where she was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Goalkeeper of the Year in 2023.

Early life
editMackiewicz was raised in Broomfield, Colorado. She played soccer as a field player before being converted to goalkeeper by the age of ten.[1] She attended Legacy High School, where she played one season of soccer as a freshman.[2] She played club soccer for Real Colorado, which she helped lead to the DA under-16/17 national championship in 2018, conceding only one goal in six games.[1] She was a four-year starter for her high school basketball team, averaging 15.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.[3]
Clemson Tigers
editMackiewicz became the starting goalkeeper for the Clemson Tigers in her junior year in 2022. That season, she made 59 saves and kept 7 clean sheets in 18 games.[4][5] Mackiewicz had a breakout senior season in 2023, making 64 saves and keeping a program-record 13 clean sheets (second most in the nation) in 25 games. She helped Clemson reach the final of the ACC tournament and the semifinals of the NCAA tournament, both times falling to Florida State; during the NCAA tournament, she saved Croix Bethune's penalty shootout attempt to advance to the quarterfinals. At the end of the 2023 season, she was named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Goalkeeper of the Year, first-team All-ACC, and second-team United Soccer Coaches All-American.[4][6]
Club career
editTrelleborg
editMackiewicz was selected 32nd overall by the Kansas City Current in the third round of the 2024 NWSL Draft but was not signed to the roster while coming back from shoulder surgery.[7][8] She instead began her professional career in Sweden, signing a one-year contract with Damallsvenskan club Trelleborgs FF on August 20, 2024.[9] She made ten appearances for the club as they finished last in the league.[10]
Chicago Red Stars
editThe NWSL's Chicago Red Stars announced on December 9, 2024, that they had signed Mackiewicz on a one-year contract.[11]
International career
editMackiewicz was first invited to United States youth national team camps in 2016. During training with the under-17 team at the end of 2017, she tore her UCL and was ruled out of the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U-17 Championship.[1] She returned to train with the under-17 and under-19 teams later that year and the under-20 team in 2019.[12][13][14]
