Students: How to...
edit...enable or disable the "My courses" shortcut link
edit- Navigate to the education preferences (accessible at the bottom of the "Appearance" tab from My preferences).
- Select "Show a link to your courses at the top of every page"
- Press "Save".
- To disable this shortcut, uncheck the box and press "Save".
...navigate to a course page
edit- Navigate to the Institutions list (accessible from My courses).
- Click on the name of your learning institution.
- Select "Planned", "Current", or "Passed", depending on which applies to the course you're looking for.
- Press "Go".
- Click on the name of the course.
...sign up to review an article
edit- Navigate to a course page.
- Next to an article link, press "Add myself as reviewer".
- Press "Become reviewer" to confirm.
- Be sure to review the article periodically for style, sourcing, and general overall quality.
...stop reviewing an article
edit- Navigate to a course page.
- Next to an article link, press "Remove myself as reviewer".
- Press "Remove yourself" to confirm.
...enroll in a course
editPlease note that this process is in no way linked to your actual enrollment in the class at your institution; if adding the course you will need to follow the institution's formal procedures as well.
- Navigate to your course page.
- Next to the search bar (you may need to use the drop-down menu), click "Enroll".
- Enter the enrollment token provided by your instructor or campus ambassador, and press "Enroll with this token".
- If the green confirmation message appears, you're finished. Otherwise, continue following the steps below.
- (Optional) You will be prompted at this time for your gender if you have not provided it previously. Disclosing it is optional and provides no additional functionality, except that certain messages on Wikipedia that would otherwise say "his or her" will be tailored to say "his" or "her".
- Click "Submit".
- If the green confirmation message appears, you're enrolled!
...access the page for a course you are enrolled in
edit- Navigate to My courses.
- Click the name of the course you wish to access.
...disenroll from a course
editPlease note that this process is in no way linked to your actual enrollment in the class at your institution; if dropping the course you will need to follow the institution's formal procedures as well.
- Navigate to the course page.
- Next to the search bar (you may need to use the drop-down menu), click "Disenroll".
- (Optional) Enter a reason for disenrolling (such as "dropped the course").
- Click the button that says "Disenroll".
- If you see a green message, you've successfully disenrolled.
...indicate which article you are working on
edit- Navigate to your course page.
- In the table containing student names, locate the row containing your name. Enter the name of the article you are working on (case-sensitive). If the article already exists, verify the title is correct by watching for it in the suggestion drop-down that appears while you type.
- Press "Add article".
...edit the name of the article in the article list
edit- Navigate to your course page.
- In the table containing student names, locate the row containing your name. Click the "remove article" link.
- In the confirmation dialog, press "Remove article".
- Add the correct article title.
...create a profile
edit- Navigate to profile (accessible from My courses).
- Make sure the checkbox indicating to publicly list your profile is filled in.
- Enter an introduction in the text area, keeping in mind this will be visible to the public.
- In the "Profile photo" text box, type the name of an image uploaded either to the English Wikipedia or to Wikimedia Commons. As you type, the autosuggest feature should help you spell the name correctly. Once you finish typing in this field, a preview of the image should appear.
- Press "Submit" to save.
- If you see a green confirmation message, your profile was saved.
...update your profile
edit- Navigate to student profile (accessible from My courses).
- Make sure the checkbox indicating to publicly list your profile is filled in.
- Make any desired changes.
- Press "Submit" to save.
- If you see a green confirmation message, your profile was saved.
...delist your profile
edit- Navigate to student profile (accessible from My courses).
- Deselect the checkbox indicating to publicly list your profile.
- Press "Submit" to save.
- If you see a green confirmation message, your profile was delisted successfully.
