editIs it possible to create meters / feet above sea level template?--౪ Santa ౪99° 17:41, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- Santasa99: Please ask at Template talk:Convert. When doing so, it would be desirable to include links to at least two articles and a brief description of what text in the article would be replaced with convert. Johnuniq (talk) 23:06, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Speed isn't always a manifestation of energy waste
editThe conversion template page and its Help page appear to be slanted towards fuel efficiency over speed in examples of rates (x per y). This slant shouldn't be applied to wind speed. Note that wind is not a consumer of fossil fuels. Indeed, the wind is a manifestation of solar energy, and it will not be convinced to switch to a more politically correct fuel source, if such exists. Not everything fast causes climate change, my friends. Please add speed examples to your conversion templates page, as I am trying to improve an article as efficiently as possible, and have now wasted 20+ minutes trying to get a rate template that works. Thank you. --Quisqualis (talk) 18:28, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- Please put general messages at Template talk:Convert where more people will see it. If you include an example of what unit you would like (what per what?) we can have a look at it. A link to an article where the convert is intended would be useful. Johnuniq (talk) 23:04, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- I will do that. It's miles per hour based on km/h, in the article Tehran, Climate section; I finally figured it out: "km/hr" and "kmph" don't work.--Quisqualis (talk) 00:40, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
Mouseover doesn't
editThis page makes multiple claims that you can "Mouseover the message to see further information.[a]". Well, it doesn't for me. The error is red, and my cursor is a text-select when over the message.Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:39, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Maury Markowitz: The following shows an invalid convert with a special parameter. The first line shows how the convert appears when saved in an article, while the second shows how it appears when previewing an edit. Perhaps you are seeing the preview message which, as you say, does not show anything extra with the mouse. That's because the message is shown in full during preview in an attempt to get the attention of the editor. However, mouseover shows the extra information in the first line.
{{convert|km|ft|test=nopreview}}
→ [convert: invalid number]{{convert|km|ft|test=preview}}
→ Error in convert: Value "km" must be a number (help)

- I am only getting the red text, not a link. In my case, the red text was of no help whatsoever, although I can't recall now exactly what it said. Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:04, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
