Geography

Hillier is a western suburb of the Gawler local government area. It is primarily bounded by Angle Vale Road, Wingate Road, the Sturt Highway and the Gawler River.[4]

Demographics

The 2021 Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 814 persons in Hillier on census night. Of these, 47% were male and 53% were female.[5]

The majority of residents (62.3%) are of Australian birth, with other common census responses being England (21.6%), Scotland (2.1%) and Vietnam (1.4%).[5]

The age distribution of Hillier residents is skewed higher than the greater Australian population. 73.5% of residents were over 25 years in 2021, compared to the Australian average of 69.8%; and 26.5% were younger than 25 years, compared to the Australian average of 30.2%.[5]
