Isabella Banks Markell

Isabella Banks Markell (1891–1980) was an American painter.[1][2] Markell was born in Superior, Wisconsin.[2][3] She studied at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in the 1930s.[2] Markell was known in particular for her many landscape paintings of New York's East River.[4]

Her work is included in the collections of the Seattle Art Museum,[5] Drury University[2] and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.[1]
