Isaya Mwita Charles is a Tanzanian politician currently serving as the Mayor of Dar es Salaam, a role he has held since 2016.[2]

Early life and education
editIsaya Mwita Charles was born on 28 February 1974 in Tarime District, Mara, which was then part of Musoma Region.
He completed his Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) at Tarime Secondary School between 1994 and 1997. From July 2005 to May 2007, he attended Al-Haramain Secondary School, where he earned an Advanced Certificate in Secondary Education (ACSE). Later, from October 2008 to June 2011, he completed his bachelor’s degree in economics at the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy.
Before entering politics, he worked as an economist for the Temeke Municipal Council and also ran a printing company in Kariakoo.[3]
Political career
editIsaya Mwita Charles is the Lord Mayor of Dar es Salaam in the United Republic of Tanzania and a member of the CHADEMA party. Charles was elected as a Councilor in 2015.[4] On 21 March 2016, he was officially elected Mayor of the Dar es Salaam City Council.[5]
