His arrest

edit

On October 1, 2024, Iran launched 200[4] ballistic missiles at Israeli targets in at least two waves, marking the largest attack during the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.[5] The missile attack was codenamed Operation True Promise 2 (Persian: عملیات وعده صادق ۲) by Iran.[6] It was the second direct attack by Iran against Israel after the April 2024 strikes.

Israel has charged Loffredo, who is 28 years old and works as an independent journalist, with grave crimes with the help of the enemy, for photographing the place where Iranian missiles hit the bases of the regime of Israel and preparing a report on it.[3][7]

i24NEWS announced that this American citizen was arrested on Wednesday night October 9, 2024, which took place after he photographed the place where Iranian missiles hit, including a sensitive security base in the center of the occupied territories.[3][8][9]

i24NEWS further reported that Loffredo's lawyer strongly denied the accusations against him; defense counsel added that his client was arrested because of his journalistic activities: "If the enemy is going to benefit from this issue, 15 foreign journalists, including Israelis, should be arrested in Israel."[3][10]

At the arraignment, it was suggested that he be deported from the occupied territories and returned to the United States, but the Israeli court extended the period of his detention.[3][11][12] Loffredo is out of Israeli jail as of October 14, 2024.[13]
