Jessica M. Caloza is an American politician who is a member-elect of the California State Assembly for the 41st district. A Democrat, she is the first Filipina elected to the position.[1]

Early life and education
editCaloza was born in Quezon City, Philippines, and immigrated to the United States as a child. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego as the first person in her family to graduate from college.[1]
Career
editCaloza previously worked as the deputy chief of staff to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, as a Commissioner of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works from 2019 to 2021, and in the Obama administration as policy advisor in the U.S. Department of Education.[1] She also worked in the office of Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti.[2]
California State Assembly
editIn 2024, Caloza announced her campaign for the California State Assembly in the 41st district to replace incumbent Wendy Carrillo, who ran for the Los Angeles City Council. In the crowded primary field, Caloza and Franky Carrillo advanced to the general election.[2][3]
