By day, KWML is powered at 5,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. But to protect other stations on 570 AM from interference, at night it greatly reduces power to 155 watts. The AM transmitter is off U.S. Highway 70 (Picacho Avenue) near the Rio Grande.[3] Programming is also heard on 215-watt FM translator K283CG at 104.5 MHz.[4] The station uses its FM dial position in its moniker, calling itself "Kool 104.5".
