Kara Dunn (born December 6, 2003) is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and USC Trojans. After going undrafted in the 2026 WNBA draft, she joined the Mercury and later signed a player development contract with the team.
Early life
[edit]Dunn is from Dallas, Georgia, and attended Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia.[1] She helped Mount Paran win a state championship as a senior and was named the 2022 Atlanta Tipoff Club Metro Player of the Year.[2]
College career
[edit]Georgia Tech
[edit]Dunn began her college career at Georgia Tech. She was named second-team All-ACC in 2024 and first-team All-ACC in 2025.[1] During her sophomore season, she scored a then-career-high 39 points against Georgia State, one of the highest single-game totals in Georgia Tech program history.[3]
USC
[edit]Dunn transferred to USC for the 2025–26 season. She started all 32 games for the Trojans and averaged 15.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors.[4]
During conference play, Dunn had a seven-game stretch in which she scored at least 20 points in every game.[5] She finished her college career with 1,676 points.[6]
Professional career
[edit]After going undrafted in the 2026 WNBA draft, Dunn signed a training camp contract with the Phoenix Mercury on April 14, 2026.[6] She appeared in the preseason before being waived in May.
On July 26, Phoenix signed Dunn to a player development contract.[7]
