History
editBarlat (today called Kayalar) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Assyrians.[4] In 1915, there were ten Syriac Orthodox families.[5] Amidst the Sayfo, some Assyrians were killed whilst some survived.[6] By 1987, there were no remaining Assyrians at Barlat.[7]
