Keeley Kustermann (born 17 April 2004) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She was recruited from West Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL Women's League and was selected by Adelaide with pick no. 40 in the 2022 AFL Women's draft.[2]
Early life and junior career
[edit]Kustermann began her footballing journey at Mitchell Park Football Club and later the Goodwood Saints Football Club in the Adelaide Footy League.[1] She eventually played for West Adelaide in the SANFL Women's League.[3] She debuted in the SANFLW as a teenager, initially playing as a defender and a midfielder.[4][5] Kustermann's background as an 800m runner assisted her sprinting capabilities in football.[5]
She is a graduate of Port Adelaide's Next Generation Academy program, and joined the AFLW Academy in 2022.[6]
In 2022, Kustermann captained South Australia’s under-18 team to an unbeaten haul in the AFLW Under-18 Championships, earning a place in the All-Australian side.[3] She also featured strongly in the SANFLW for West Adelaide and earned selection in the SANFLW Team of the Year.[5]
AFLW career
[edit]Adelaide selected Kustermann with pick no. 40 in the 2022 draft.[5] She made her AFLW debut for the Crows in round 7 of season 7.
