Khoider Ali Ringirfuryaan, simply known as Dede, is a 15 year old teenager (in 2024) who is known for his possession the Benang Raja flag of Republic of South Maluku and concerns about his detention by Maluku Regional Police.[1]
Personal life
editKhoider is known to be a student at SMP Negeri 14 Ambon who lives on Galunggung Road, Sirimau, Ambon. His father, Ali Abdullah Ringirfuryaan, is a police officer who served in the Maluku Regional Police Intelligence and Security Directorate with the rank of Adjunct First Police Inspector (Ajun Inspektur Polisi Satu; Aiptu).[2]
Detained by Maluku Regional Police
editOn 9 May 2024, he was detained by the Maluku Regional Police for carrying the Benang Raja flag of Republic of South Maluku during a watch together (Indonesian: nonton bareng) play-off match 2024 Paris Olympics between Indonesia U23 against Guinea U23 at Merdeka Field, Ambon. When he arrived at the place where the nonton bareng was taking place, Khoider passed several times on a motorbike while waving the Benang Raja flag, this then sparked anger among local residents. The residents then chased him and wanted to beat him, but he was first arrested by one of the Maluku Regional Police personnel.[2] His detention sparked controversy in Indonesia, especially in Maluku Province and the Moluccans community in the Netherlands.[1][2] The government of the Republic of South Maluku through its official Instagram account expressed its concern over the arrest of a 15 year old teenager and condemn the Government of Indonesia.[3]
