La Junta is a small town located in the Aysen Region of Chile[1][2], in the confluence of the Rosselot and Palena rivers.[3] The town was founded in 1963[4], and saw an increase in population after the inaguration of the Carretera Austral.[4] The town's economy is mainly based in tourism, commerce and animal husbandry.[citation needed]
