History
editLevenger was founded in 1987 by the Steve and Lori Leveen.[2][3][4] The name “Levenger” was derived from their surnames, Leveen (Leve-) and Granger (-nger).[4] They began selling lamps with an ad placed in The New Yorker magazine,[5] using their neighbor's garage as the fulfillment center and their spare bedroom as the company's main office.[4] They used retirement funds for the startup of the company,[5] and in two months after running the ad, Levenger had 47 customers.[6] 1999, the company had grown to be a US$60M business.[3]
