Many of the collectable Bots in Astro Bot reference specific characters from various PlayStation games, being referred to as "V.I.P. Bots".[1][2] This was carried over from Astro's Playroom, which also boasted many PlayStation centric references.[citation needed] One reason for their inclusion is to bridge the gap between older and younger generations of gamers.[3]
