Background

LotusFlare was founded in June 2014 by Sam Gadodia, Terry Guo, and Shao Xia, who met while working at Facebook.[5] The initial operations were funded by a $4 million seed investment from, among others, Social Capital, Google Ventures, and Metamorphic Ventures.[6][7]

In September 2015, the company raised a $6 million Series A investment led by Chamath Palihapitiya's firm Social Capital.[8][1] At that time, he joined the company as the chairman of the board.[8]
