The Manchester Short Term Holding Facility is a United Kingdom Immigration Removal Centre (IRC), where individuals are held while awaiting decisions on their asylum claim or considered for deportation from the UK for various reasons.
Description
editIt is located in the freight terminal of Manchester Airport.[1] The Manchester Short Term Holding Facility is managed by security firm Mitie on behalf of Border Force.[2] When the Manchester Short Term Holding Facility was established in 2018, it replaced Pennine House.[3]
The centre was originally managed by Reliance Secure Task Management.[2]
In 2022, protests were held outside the facility over the Rwanda asylum plan.[4]
