Mario Keith Bowleg is a Bahamian Progressive Liberal Party politician, who has been Minister of Sports Youth and Culture and the Member of Parliament for Garden Hills since 2021.

Career

Before entering politics, Bowleg, had a 25-year career in banking, ultimately finishing his career as the Assistant Branch Manager of Commonwealth Bank. Bowleg was also a coach and mentor and the President of the Bahamas Basketball Federation. He has been acclaimed as a ‘National Champion’, and ‘Coach of the Year’.[1]

Parliament

Bowleg was announced as the PLP candidate for Garden Hills in February of 2021[2]. He defeated the FNM candidate and businessman Stephen Greenslade, flipping the seat[3][4].

After being elected, Prime Minister Philip "Brave" Davis appointed Bowleg as the Minister of Youth Sports and Culture[5]. He is responsible for driving youth development, sports, and cultural initiatives in the Bahamas. As minister, Bowleg relaunched the Fresh Start Program in Grand Bahama, providing training and job readiness skills to young people[6].
