Market Place is the original market square of the town of Wragby in Lincolnshire, England.[1] It is the original centre of the town and was grated a market charter in 1285. The old market place is now in use as a car park and occasional market fair. Some of the buildings in the square are listed buildings. The nearby Grade II listed All Saints Church lies directly to the east of the Market Place on Church Street.

History
editThe town was granted a charter to hold a market in 1285[2] and this became the main trading and economic hub of the then-village of Wragby.[3] It continued to see increase popularity between the 15th and 16th centuries.[4] The town expanded around the market place. Some of the buildings saw renovations between the 18th and 19th centuries. The layout has remained largely the same.
Present day
editThe market place is now mostly used for car parking and occasional market events. The nearby Adam and Eve Pub mostly holds the markets of Wragby on its car park.[5] The town centre is also designated as a conservation area.[6]

- Former Post Office - Although on Main Street, it lies opposite the market place and was Grade II listed in 1986 by Historic England.[7]
- Red Lion Cottage - The cottage was built in the late 18th century and was given Grade II listed status in 1986 by Historic England.[8]
- Surgery Cottage - Located on Main Street, it is close to the market place and is was Grade II listed in 1986 by Historic England.[9]
- Turnor Arms Hotel - Also located on Main Street, it lies close to the market place and was Grade II listed in 1986 by Historic England.[10]
