editThe community was originally known as Devils Bend because of the illegal gambling that took place in the area in the 1880s. Ben Marlow was given a land grant for a Baptist church and cemetery, and the community was subsequently renamed Marlow in honor of him. The 1941 county highway map showed a church, a business, and several scattered houses in the area. Its population was 45 from 1990 through 2000.[2]
