Maryam Mariya is a Maldivian politician who is Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.[2] She was serving as Visiting Scholar at Maldives National University.[3]

Early life and education
editMariya got a diploma in TESL at the National Institute of Education, Singapore in 1998. She got an MA TESOL at the University of Canberra, Australia and a PhD in Applied Linguistics at the Massey University, New Zealand.[4][5] She received postgraduate teaching and learning at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, where she was a Research Associate.[3][4][5]
Career
editMaryam Mariya has worked at various educational institutes such as Waikato University, Maldives National University, Villa College and is now serving as the Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development under the Cabinet of Mohamed Muizzu.[3][4][5]
