Matt Beat (born November 6, 1981), also known as Mr. Beat, is an American author, educator and political commentator who has written extensively on U.S. politics, particularly the U.S Supreme Court and United States Presidency.

Biography
editMatthew Alan Beat was born on November 6, 1981, in Topeka, Kansas. A Roman Catholic, Beat is related to various U.S. Presidents, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, James Madison, Calvin Coolidge, and James A. Garfield.[1][2]
Beat received a bachelor's degree in Journalism, Geography and History from the University of Kansas. He also studied at the University of Nebraska Omaha and Emporia State University. He subsequently taught social studies and coached basketball and tennis at various public schools in Kansas.[3]
Matt Beat first joined YouTube as "Mr. Beat" on August 24, 2009. He became known for his Supreme Court Briefs series of videos, in which he discussed important historical rulings by the United States Supreme Court. He has also uploaded a series looking at every presidential election in United States history. In 2022, Beat called the office of every member of the United States Congress to express the concerns of various Americans.[4][5] In 2024, Beat attended the 2024 Democratic National Convention, during which he interviewed a number of political delegates and activists. Beat holds largely liberal political views.[6]
Beat is also a musician and founder of the comedy music group the Electric Needle Room. His YouTube channel The Beat Goes On features videos documenting the careers of many famous musicians.
