Matt Hunt (journalist)

Matt Hunt is an American journalist based in Bangkok, Thailand. He is known for his in-depth reportage as the Thailand Correspondent for France 24[1]. His work has also been regularly published in DW[2], The Guardian[3], The Washington Post[4], The Times[5] and more.

He has reported on subjects including the effect of climate change[6] and interviewed heads of state and opposition leaders, including Prayut Chan-o-cha[7], Srettha Thavisin[8][9] and Pita Limjaroenrat[10].

He has also appeared on Thai Talk TV shows hosted by Suthichai Yoon[11] and John Winyu[12].

Philanthrophy

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hunt created a shop local campaign to help bring attention to elephant refuge camps that were suffering through the loss of tourism funding to support their elephant sanctuaries. His elephant mask campaign helped to raise money for affected local merchants, with proceeds donated to sanctuaries[13].
