Mei Gui Zhang, also referred to as Zhang Meigui (Simplified Chinese: 张玫瑰, born 1993) is a Chinese soprano based in United States. She is an associate professor in the voice and opera department at China Conservatory of Music.[1]

Early life and career
editBorn into a musical family in Chengdu, Sichuan, Zhang Meigui studied to play the piano and violin from baby age and studied vocal music under guidance of her parents. At three years old, she performed with Symphony Orchestra of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, taking on the role of a child soloist.[2]
In 2012, she was admitted to the Vocal Music Department of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, ranking first in her major. The following year, she entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she was selected by Professor Zhou Xiaoyan to study vocal music under his tutelage, with Professor Wei Fugen as her artistic advisor.[citation needed]
From 2016 to 2018, she received a scholarship from the Mannes School of Music. During this time, she studied under the American soprano Diana Soviero, completing her Master's degree in Vocal Performance. Simultaneously, she was awarded the "George and Elizabeth Outstanding Talent Award" by the institution.[citation needed]
In 2019 She was a finalist in the 2019 Queen Sonja International Music Competition, and took second place at the 2020 Opera Index Competition. In the next few years, she performed at major opera theaters across United States, especially in San Francisco.[3][4]
