Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam

Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam is a Bangladeshi academic and vice-chancellor of Banglqdesh Digital University.[1][2] He is the former vice-chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh.[3] He is a former President of the Bangladesh Computer Society.[4] He is a Computer Science and Engineering professor at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.[5]

Early life

Islam was born in 1973 in Jamalpur District, Bangladesh.[6] He did his bachelor's and masters degrees in Computational Science and Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.[7] He did his PhD at Monash University in Information Technology.[7][6]

Career

Islam taught at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.[8] He was the Provost of Shahid Smriti Hall.[6] He served as the President of Bangladesh Computer Society.[6] He was a director of Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited.[6]

In December 2017, Islam was appointed vice-chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh.[6] Dr Nazrul Islam joined as pro-vice-chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh under Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam.[9]

Islam was appointed vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University on 20 November 2022.[8] He paid tribute to former President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his former residence in Dhanmondi, Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.[10]
