Morimene

Morimene (Ancient Greek: Μοριμενή) was a district in the northwest of Cappadocia in Türkiye on the flanks of the Halys River (modern Kızılırmak), which according to Strabo and Pliny the Elder was considered only suitable as pasture land, lacking fruit trees and abundant in wild donkeys. Rome considered the territory to be part of Galatia, and second century Roman geographer Claudius Ptolemy does not mention it within the districts of Cappadocia. The main city of Morimene was called Venessa.
