The stories are presented in way that is simplified for children.[1] The Mormon Wiki states she originally wrote the series as gifts for her family. Buck and her husband live in Louisville, Kentucky where she was a "support specialist for LDS seminars and institutes of Religion."[2]She is a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter day Saints.

A sequel to the first book was created. This sequel book was called More Of My first Book Of Mormon Stories. And was written by the same Deanna Draper Buck.[4] These are more stories taken from the Book Of Mormon that were not in Deanna's first book. Good Reads gives the sequel 4.29 stars out of 5.[5] The new book features 16 new stories from the book of Mormon. Children 'will delight in these simplified versions.'

Casey Nelson is a Mormon illustrator who illustrated 2 of Deanna's books. Casey was a senior illustrator for the Walt Disney Company for almost 15 years. She was also an instructor at Brigham Young University for 6 years.[8] She is also a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
