The Nahant Invitation[1] was an invitational men's clay court tournament established in 1885 at the Nahant Club,[2] Nahant, Massachusetts, United States, that ran till 1904.[3]

History
editThe Nahant Invitation was a clay court tournament established in 1885 at the Nahant Club, Nahant, Massachusetts, United States,[4] In 1886 the event was played in a round robin format with six players Howard Augustus Taylor won all six of his matches with no defeats, second placed was Henry Slocum played six won five lost one.[3] In 1887 it was a round robin format again with Charles Amherst Chase played five won five no defeats, second was Philip Shelton Sears played five won four lost one.[3] The same format continued until 1892.[3] The tournament was held through to 1904.[3]
