History
editIn 2022, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal began construction of a new heliport within Kathmandu Valley to release congestion of traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport[4] with constructions beginning late 2023.[5] It opened in June 2024.[6] After its opening, it was critizied for lacking safety mechanisms such as an own control tower and refueling facilities.[7][8] On 11 July, roughly two weeks after oepning, operations were halted by pilots due to these concerns[9] Other news outlets claimed that operations were stopped due to a lack of demand.[10]
