Gymnastics

edit

The Netherlands won the first Women's Gymnastics competition in Olympic history.

Five of the Olympics' first gold medal team were Jewish women: Estella Agsteribbe, Anna Dresden-Polak, Elka de Levie, Helena Nordheim, and Jud Simons. Of the five, only Levie survived the Holocaust; the rest were murdered in gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau and Sobibor [4]
