Olivia Joanna Bailey (born 1986)[1][self-published source] is a British politician who has been the Member of Parliament for the newly-formed Reading West and Mid Berkshire constituency since 2024.[2][3]

A member of the Labour Party, Bailey flipped the former Reading West constituency seat from the Conservative Party.[4] She previously contested the former Reading West constituency in 2017 but was unsuccessful.[5][6][7]

Bailey has been Chair of the Labour Women's Network, deputy General Secretary of the Fabian Society, and a senior aide to Sir Keir Starmer, before standing as a parliamentary candidate.[3]

Early life

Born in Reading to a policeman father and a local teacher mother, Bailey attended Ranelagh School in Bracknell. She graduated from St Hilda's College, Oxford in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern History and Politics.[8]

Bailey is openly LGBT+.[9]
