Operations attributed to Israel in Iran is a list of subversive operations in Iran that have been attributed to Israel in the public opinion or the speech of Iranian officials. Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for many of these operations.[1] Israeli authorities have always presented themselves in opposition to the Islamic Republic of Iran and their propagated ideas.[2]
Responsibility for operations
editIsrael has rarely been held accountable for its destructive actions. However, the complexity of many operations required months and years of planning, logistical and financial support, and most importantly, an extensive network of spies, security agents, and task forces. It is the complexity of the issue that strengthens the speculation about the presence of a government behind these operations. According to the BBC, the only case that Israel has taken responsibility for in recent years was the theft of "Iran's nuclear program documents" from a center in Tehran.[1]
From the international point of view
editRonen Bergman, a journalist in military-security affairs, considers Israel to be behind many operations in Iran, including the assassination of nuclear scientists. Some American media, however, believe that these assassinations are supported by Israel and carried out by the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. According to this journalist, since 2017, Israel has been counting on a more aggressive policy against Iran.[1]
Edward Snowden, a former employee of the US Central Intelligence Agency, said in an interview with Der Spiegel about the Stuxnet malware that the United States had produced this malware with the cooperation of Israel and imported it into Iran's nuclear facilities. Some American media say that under the orders of Barack Obama, sabotage operations in Iran have been stopped since a year before the nuclear agreement between Iran and the United States.[1]
From the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran point of view
editBy airing documentaries prepared from the detainees after some assassinations and destructive operations in Iran, Iran TV has introduced the responsibility of these operations to the Israeli intelligence services. However, these confessions known as confessions under pressure.[1]
From the Israeli authorities point of view
editThe Israeli authorities acknowledge the subversive activities in Iran, but they do not consider all these activities related to them. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said during an interview with a radio network of his country: "It is not that every incident that happens in Iran necessarily has something to do with us."[3] Israeli officials generally avoid answering about their role in the subversive attacks in Iran and do not deny or confirm it.[4] Yossi Cohen, the head of Mossad at the time, has announced that Israel has infiltrated the heart of Tehran in terms of intelligence.[5]
