History
editEarly years
editBy the end of 1997, Shubho had left the band and had to shift to Dhaka with his family, leading to a period of stagnation for the band.
In 1999, the Benson & Hedges Star Search Contest was launched. After receiving the application form from Rumon's elder brother, Tito and Rumon, at the time, were the only members of IGNEOUS, as all others had quit the band. Shubho was recontacted, and Rubel was approached to become their bassist. The band was reformed and got into the Final Fifteen in the B&H Star Search Contest in both 1999 and 2000. However, the members got busy with studies and broke up again by the end of 2000.
Main career (2002–2009)
editIn 2002, Rumon, inspired by Tito, participated as a solo contestant in the B&H Star Search 2002. This time, Rumon won two awards (Best Solo Performer and Best Lyricist). The band has Shubho on drums and Raja on bass. After the awards, Rumon proposed to reform the band with a new name, Parthibo. Sohel was added as an additional guitarist.
The band participated in Ampfest, Ampart, Close Up Juke Box, and Fantasy Kingdom Live Concerts. The band's first single is "Olpo Ektu Akash"; it was featured in the 2004 album Swapnochura. Their first full album, Baundule, was released in 2005. Parthibo won the award for Best Band Album for Baundule in the 2005 Citycell-Channel I Music Awards.
Tito left the band in 2007 for personal reasons, and Nabil took his place. Shehrina Kamal, a female artist, was added into the band in 2005. Kamal left the band in 2008 when she left Bangladesh, at which point, Neda Shakiba joined. They crossed the border and performed at the Calcutta Rowing Club in 2009.
2011–present
editIn 2011, the band released their second album, Utshorgo Nijeke. After this, a major issue led to Nabil and Shakiba's departures. Rony later joined in 2011. Later, Raja left the band in 2013 and John Sutton Munshi came in as a guest bassist.
Parthibo launched their third album, Parthibo The Definitive Album, on 25 June 2014. The dual CD album contains 10 rearranged hits from their past albums and 10 brand new songs.[1] In 2016, Parthibo released their fourth album, Swagoto Bangladeshe.[2]
