Patrick H. Willems (born 1987)[1] is an American video-essayist and filmmaker.
Early life
editWillems grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY. He would later attend Oberlin College and gain a degree in Cinema Studies.[2]
Career
editHe has maintained a YouTube channel since 2011. He initially posted short films before moving into video essays in 2016–17. His video 'What if Wes Anderson directed X-Men' gained notoriety.[3] He is known to mix short narrative cinematic sequences between the typical video essay format.[1] In 2022 his feature film debut Night of the Coconut was released.[4] In 2024, Variety reported that he would be directing the film The Dinner Plan, through the indie streaming service Nebula.[5]
