Petar Pjesivac (Serbian: Петар Пјешивац, romanizedPetar Pješivac), is a Serbian writer (of Serbian descent), most notably winning the "Golden Owl” literary award for his novel “ Povratak Ž-a “ ( The return of Z. ) in 2013 - Zavoda za izdavanje udžbenika Republike Srpske.

Biography

Petar Pjesivac was born in Adelaide, South Australia - Australia on 24 September 1962 in a family of immigrants of Serbian / Russian / German / Jewish descend.

In early 1963 his parents moved back to Belgrade - Yugoslavia where hi completed his elementary education. He continued his secondary education in Moscow- SSSR where he commenced his medical studies at the Moscow School of Medicine - Semashko.

With impending war and dissolution of Yugoslavia, Petar Pjesivac returned to Australia in 1987 and graduated from Flinders University Medical School in 1990.

Ever since his graduation Petar Pjesivac has been residing and working as a registered medical practitioner and writer in MelbourneVictoria - Australia.

Petar Pjesivac early prose writings ( essays and short stories )were inspired by NATO bombardment of Yugoslavia in 1999 and published in literary magazine “ Pogledi “ in Toronto / Canada. ( Z. Acin - Magazin za kulturu - Pogledi 1999)
